Interview with Ajit Chandrasekhar Regarding Solar Eclipses: Good Morning Ajit. Thank you for the interesting post on the annular solar eclipse . We have some questions for you. Print.Able: Have you seen other solar eclipses, or is it only the one in Kannur that you have seen? Ajit: I saw two others. Print.Able: Which was the first one you saw? Ajit: The first one I saw was the solar eclipse in Dharwad on 16th February 1980. Print.Able: Tell us some details. Ajit: It was in the afternoon around 15:30 (3:30 pm). I saw the diamond ring effect. You could see the stars in the sky. The sky turned dark, but there was still light in the sky like at twilight. Print.Able: Which was the second one? Ajit: Saw the second one in Maheshwar on 22nd July, 2009. Print.Able: Do share some details. Ajit: It was very cloudy since it was the monsoon. Visit to Kannur – The Annular Solar Eclipse by Ajit Chandrasekhar My wish was to see the annular solar eclipse. My wish was fulfilled in 2019 when my family expressed their desire to see the eclipse.  Indira and I checked where the eclipse would be visible. It was visible in many places in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. When we finally checked where the best place was to view the eclipse, it was Kannur. The eclipse was visible on 26th December 2019, Boxing Day. We were a group of thirteen – James, Indira, Mira, Jai, Amma and myself, Sam, Kusha, Louisa, Varun, Karthika, Aniki and Arshia. We left Bangalore on the afternoon of the 22nd of December. We flew from Bengaluru. We reached Kannur in the evening just as the sun was setting. It was lovely to see the sunset by the sea. We stayed in the Kanaka Guesthouse. We had an early dinner and went to bed. The rooms were comfortable. The next day, Mira, Indi, Jai and I went to the Kannur Fort and St Angelo’s church. Came back for lunch.  The
